The “Revue du Vin de France”
June 2000 issue:

We really liked :
- Château Clarke 99
“This is a generous wine which reveals a very pleasant fruity taste, rich tannins and a good length in the mouth. The vinfication is superb and does honour to the work accomplished in the vineyard.”
-Château Malmaison 99 “This is a wine full of taste with notes of spice and fruit. It has a fine and elegant balance.”
-Château Clarke 98
“After a few years of fluctuation, we can now see the undeniable return of top quality. The wine develops aromas of ripe fruit with a fullness of body and a quality of tannins that are unique to this appellation. We can only hope that this wine will keep its promises.”

“Vintage”
April 1998 issue:

- Château Clarke 95
“A nose of liquorice. The first taste in the mouth of fruit is superb and the after taste full of spice is charming. It is a wine which deserves some patience.”

"Guide Hachette"
1999

- Château Clarke 95
“Acknowledged as leader of its appellation, Clarke well deserves its position with this vintage. It is a real success. It has a good presentation, with a lovely garnet colour and a bouquet every bit as intense as expressive (liquorice and prunes). The first taste is round, then it reveals all its full structure and richness on the palate and it has just the right amount of wood.
To crown it all, the long after taste opens up and finishes on notes of clove.”
- Château Malmaison 95
“Although it does not compete with the very noble Clarke (Listrac), this wine has a lovely purple colour and is well balanced and robust. The tannins should mellow in four or five years. The nose, which is slightly mineral, is both floral and fruity.”
